A police missal is the bound story of a case: how the station first recorded the complaint, what the investigation officer did next, what was recovered, who was asked to attend, and how the file was sent onward. In Pakistan, and especially in Punjab station practice, that file is often called a missal (sometimes spelled misal). Urdu print needs Windows Urdu and Nastaleeq: Urdu typing for police software. Sample layouts: Sample Forms (study copies, not a pirated book). This guide explains a practical writing sequence for authorised work: FIR, then zimni, then fard and maps, then applications, then chalan, then index. It is original educational guidance, not a substitute for standing orders or the gazette. More articles sit on Resources.

What a police missal is پولیس مسل کیا ہے

Officers do not send a court or a senior reader a pile of unrelated sheets. They send a missal: a file whose papers should be readable in order, labelled, and consistent with one another. The FIR is the opening page of that story. The zimni is the dated diary of work. Fard papers record possession and recovery. Maps show the place. Applications ask a court or a senior officer for a next step. The chalan (police report / charge-sheet style paper) is how the investigation is presented for prosecution stage documentation. The index is the last list so a reader can find each enclosure without shuffling.

Stations differ in how tightly they bind papers and in which local circulars they follow. Rural and city desks may use slightly different covering letters. Special units may add forensic or narcotics annexes. The writing problem is the same everywhere: if the FIR number, date, station, accused names, or offence line drift from page to page, the file looks careless even when the field work was honest. Missal writing is therefore not only typing Urdu. It is keeping one case identity across many documents.

This article stays at the file-building level. Station registration steps are covered in the companion piece on FIR registration in Punjab Police. Duties that come from criminal procedure, rather than from software screens, are in police documentation legal framework. Software versus handwriting is compared in software vs manual missal writing.

Who this guide is for یہ گائیڈ کس کے لیے ہے

The readers we have in mind are investigation officers, readers, and station staff who already have authority to work on a live file. Nothing here is a licence to register a false FIR, invent a recovery, or write a zimni for work that did not happen. Training institutes and new officers can use the sequence as a teaching outline. Supervisors can use it as a packing check before a file leaves the station.

If your task is Call Detail Record analysis rather than missal papers, that is a different product and a different skill. Use CDR Analyzer and the CDR articles on the Resources hub. Mixing CDR exports into MPW templates, or treating a missal CDR request form as analysis, wastes time. The comparison page is MPW vs CDR Analyzer.

Questions about licences, installers, or a station PC that will not print Nastaleeq belong on Contact, not inside the zimni.

This video shows Missal Police Writing handling case papers after FIR data is in the record. Press play when you want to watch. Playback does not start by itself.

The written sequence below matches that idea: enter the case once, then generate zimni, recoveries, applications, chalan, and index from the same source instead of retyping names on every sheet.

FIR as the source record FIR بطور بنیادی ریکارڈ

In station language the FIR is both a register entry and a set of facts that later papers will repeat: number, year, date and time of registration, police station, district, complainant, accused as then known, place, and the offence line. CrPC provisions on FIR require that information of a cognizable offence be reduced to writing and entered in the prescribed book. This article does not reprint those provisions. Officers should read the current text from a trusted source or from the reference copies linked on Other Docs & Books.

What matters for missal writing is simpler than a statute lecture. Every later heading will quote the FIR identity. If the register says a four-digit number and a year, the zimni heading, the fard, the application, and the chalan must say the same four digits and year. If the complainant’s name is spelled one way on the FIR and another way on the chalan, a defence reader will treat that as sloppiness even when both spellings “sound” the same in Urdu. Copy from the register, not from memory, and not from a previous file that happened to involve a similar name.

The FIR is also where the offence line is born. Investigation may later add or drop sections, but the missal should show a trail: what was registered, what was added, and why. Do not silently replace the FIR offence with a chalan offence that has no zimni explaining the change. Punjab Police standing orders and High Court packing notes care about that trail. A High Court missal instruction PDF is introduced on Other Docs & Books; read the context paragraph there before opening the file.

Software steps for typing the FIR screen in Missal Police Writing are not duplicated here. Use How to fill FIR data in MPW when you are at the keyboard. This page is about why that screen is the source of the whole missal, not which button to press.

Entering FIR once for the whole file پوری فائل کے لیے FIR ایک بار درج کرنا

The writing advantage of a clean missal is simple: FIR number, date, station, parties, and offence live in one source, then every later sheet repeats that source. When a spelling is wrong, you correct the source and reprint — rather than hunting through sixteen printouts. Officers who type names only onto a chalan and never fix the FIR create a pretty page that other pages do not share. Officers who leave last month’s accused name in a shared heading will print yesterday’s man into today’s theft file.

Keep headings your reader expects. After the FIR particulars are correct, open the next form in the legal order, fill from that identity, preview, then print. Form types and when to use them are listed in the forms guide. Software steps for typing the FIR screen are in How to fill FIR data in MPW.

No template decides whether an FIR should be registered, whether an arrest was lawful, or whether a recovery actually occurred. If the field work is incomplete, a neat printout does not repair it. If Urdu shows as boxes, the Windows language pack and a trusted Nastaleeq font are missing; those files are not hosted on this site. Typing and print notes: Urdu typing for police software and how to print forms.

Zimni after the FIR FIR کے بعد ضمنی

Zimni is the investigation diary. In many Punjab files it splits into androni (internal) notes that stay with the investigating officer’s record and beroni papers that travel with the missal. Dates must be real dates of work. A zimni that jumps three weeks with no line is a supervisory complaint waiting to happen. A zimni that describes a recovery the fard never lists, or a witness the chalan never names, is a contradiction, not a style choice.

Write in the order work happened: visit to the place, statements recorded, property taken into possession, medical papers received, accused arrested or not found, notices issued, forensic parcels sent. Do not write the chalan story first and then back-fill diary pages to match it. Inspection officers read zimni to see whether investigation was continuous. They are not looking for literary Urdu. They are looking for a dated path.

Keep FIR identity and party names aligned between the diary and every later sheet. They do not replace the duty to record what you actually did. If you use both androni and beroni, do not invent a second story on the external papers. If a fact is important enough for court, it should already live in the diary. Common typing and print errors that look like diary errors are listed separately in common missal writing mistakes. Investigation-quality mistakes (late particulars, missing diary dates, recovery without witnesses) are in common investigation mistakes.

Fard, recoveries, and maps فرد، برآمدگیاں، اور نقشے

Fard (possession / recovery memo) is where articles enter the file as exhibits. Each item needs a description a stranger could recognise later: not “phone” but make, colour, IMEI if visible, and how it was packed. Place, time, witnesses, and seal matter. A fard that lists articles the zimni never mentioned, or that names witnesses who were not at the spot, will be attacked. Maps (naqsha) show the same place in drawing: north mark, distances, point of occurrence, point of recovery. A map without scale or north is decoration.

Example (not a real case): an officer investigating a burglary writes a zimni that the lock was broken on the eastern door, then draws a map with the broken door on the west, then lists a toolkit on the fard that the zimni never described. Three papers, three stories. The fix is not a better font. The fix is to write the scene once in the diary, then let fard and map describe that same scene.

Sample fard and map layouts are on Sample Forms. Specialised sketches such as drinking-case naqsha live among the PDFs on Other Docs; they are not a substitute for the general site map. Digital exhibits such as CDR and IMEI belong in the file as documents with a lawful trail; analysis of operator files is a different workflow, described in digital evidence, CDR, and IMEI and CDR analysis for police investigations.

Applications while the file is live فائل کے دوران درخواستیں

Applications are the requests that keep a live investigation moving: production, remand-related papers, exemption, process, 160 attendance notices, warrants, and similar requests your station actually uses. They are not essays. They should quote the same FIR identity and parties as the diary. CrPC provisions on 160 attendance, arrest papers, and warrants create documentation duties; this guide only says that the paper you print must match the duty you are performing. Do not print a warrant template because it is on the form list if no warrant was ordered.

Headings stay stable when you reuse the same FIR identity on every application. That helps only if you choose the right paper for the duty. A jail robkar with the wrong accused photograph is worse than a plain typed note. Progress reports for SP/DSP should summarise remaining work, not copy the entire zimni. PFSA and forensic covering papers need exhibit lists that match the parcels you actually sealed. Browse the cards on Sample Forms to see which layout belongs to which task, then fill the live case on the working record, not in the PDF sample.

Chalan when the investigation is ready تفتیش مکمل ہونے پر چالان

Chalan is the police report that accompanies the file when investigation is presented for the next stage. It is not a first draft of the investigation. It is a structured summary: accused as now known, sections as now applied, witnesses, property, and how the case is being sent. CrPC provisions on the police report to the magistrate set the legal duty; again, read the current text from a trusted source. Writing practice is: do not chalan a file whose zimni is empty, whose recoveries are unlisted, or whose accused names disagree with the FIR record without explanation.

Some stations print a second chalan layout with the first. If you print both, sections and names must be identical. A prosecution memo should tell the same short story as the chalan, not a new version of events. Chalan receipt is a station record of the day you actually submitted the file; do not pre-date it. Skipping zimni and jumping to chalan is a classic inspection complaint. If your unit uses a computerised covering letter, adapt the model on Other Docs; do not paste last week’s FIR number into this week’s envelope.

Index and packing the file انڈیکس اور فائل بندش

Index last. Page numbers change every time you add a zimni or an annex. An index printed on day one will be wrong on day ten. High Court style directions on how a missal should be arranged — what must not be missing, in what order papers should appear — are summarised on Other Docs & Books next to the High Court missal PDF. Follow your district’s current instruction if it differs. The index is a finding aid, not a place to hide missing work.

Packing also means physical checks: seals intact, photographs attached where a form such as Robkar Jail needs them, medical papers behind the right flag, extra copies if the reader’s office still wants them. Software cannot staple the file. It can keep the typed identity consistent so that when the reader opens any page, the FIR line matches the cover.

Example workflow (not a real case) مثال: workflow (حقیقی کیس نہیں)

The following is a teaching sequence, not a live file and not a legal order. Example: a city police station registers a theft FIR in the morning. The investigation officer creates the FIR record in MPW the same day, copying number, time, station, and names from the register. That afternoon the officer visits the house, writes a dated zimni, and prepares a site map with north and measurements. Two days later a toolkit is taken into possession; the fard lists each tool and the zimni of that date mentions the same recovery. During the week the officer issues 160 attendance papers to named witnesses using the same spellings as the FIR screen. When investigation is complete, the officer prepares chalan and prosecution memo from the same case record, then prints the index after the page count is final.

What this example is meant to show: work first, paper in the same order as work, one identity across sheets, index last. What it is not: a claim that every theft in Pakistan follows this timetable, or that MPW replaces supervisory approval.

Sample layouts and print checks نمونہ layouts اور پرنٹ چیک

Website PDFs on Sample Forms show how a filled page can look. They are samples, not live case files. Read this article, then open a PDF only to check layout. Paper size is A4 or Legal as your station uses; mismatch cuts margins or shrinks Urdu. Preview before a full run. Details: how to print MPW forms.

Before you send the file, walk the identity line: FIR number, date, station, accused, victim, sections. If one page is wrong, fix the case record and reprint, rather than handwriting a patch that other pages will not see. A short list of those typing traps is on common missal writing mistakes. Install and Windows notes are on how to install MPW.
