Missal Police Writing (MPW) supports professional printing of case documents. Before you print Chalans, Zimni, Applications, or other forms, check paper size and preview so the output matches your office requirements.

Why print settings matter پرنٹ settings کیوں اہم ہیں
A missal that looks correct on screen can still fail on paper: Urdu clipped at the margin, Legal text squeezed onto A4, or an accused photograph sitting on the fold. Stations in Punjab commonly keep a mix of A4 and Legal trays. MPW can print both; the printer driver must match the form you opened. This guide is the print half of missal writing. For how data gets into the form, read How to fill FIR data in MPW.
1. Complete the form in MPW first 1. پہلے MPW میں فارم مکمل کریں
- Open the relevant FIR / case in Missal Police Writing.
- Confirm FIR number, date, station, and party names on the case screen — printing will copy whatever is saved.
- Open the form you need (for example Chalan, Zimni Androni, or Application).
- Insert templates and keywords. Delete leftover placeholder text.
- Save. Do not send a job to the printer from an unsaved window if your workflow allows a save first.
Sample layouts (not live cases) are on Sample Forms. Use them only to see where headings sit.
2. Choose A4 or Legal 2. A4 یا Legal منتخب کریں
MPW supports A4 (210 × 297 mm) and Legal (often 8.5 × 14 inches in office printers). Many investigation branches prefer Legal for zimni and chalan because Urdu Nastaleeq needs vertical space. If the station has only A4, select A4 in MPW and in the printer dialog. Mixing sizes — MPW on Legal, tray on A4 — cuts the last lines or shrinks the page.
Ask the muharrir or the officer who last printed a file which tray is loaded. Put that size in MPW before preview. Longer documents (index plus annexes) may need more than one size in the same missal; print each form with its own setting rather than “fit all”.
3. Print preview checklist 3. پرنٹ پریویو چیک لسٹ
- Left and right margins clear of Urdu dots and English page numbers
- Jameel Noori Nastaleeq rendering (no boxes or Latin fallback)
- Accused photograph in the box on Robkar Jail or other picture forms
- Correct tray: Legal vs A4, not letter
- Duplex off unless your standing order prints both sides
- Copies: one file copy, one court copy, extras only if the reader asks
4. Printer dialog traps 4. پرنٹر ڈائیلاگ کے مسائل
Windows often remembers the last job. Check these every time:
- Fit to page / scale 100%: “Fit” can shrink a Legal form onto A4 and make seals unreadable. Prefer 100% on matching paper.
- Letter vs A4: US Letter is shorter than A4. Pakistani offices should not leave Letter selected.
- Wrong printer: a PDF printer is useful for sharing; a physical laser is needed for the signed file. Know which button you pressed.
- Colour vs mono: photographs need enough toner; text-only zimni can stay mono to save cost.
5. PDF option 5. PDF آپشن
If you need to share a document digitally, export or save as PDF when available in your version, then print from the PDF viewer. That helps when the court or a senior officer wants a scan, not wet ink. Keep the PDF with the same FIR number in the file name so it is not mixed with another case. Website samples are not your case PDFs.
6. Urdu and font before you print a stack 6. بنچ پرنٹ سے پہلے اردو اور فونٹ
If preview shows broken Nastaleeq, stop. Install Urdu support and Jameel Noori Nastaleeq from a trusted source (we do not host those files). Restart MPW, reopen the form, then print. Printing 40 pages of boxes wastes paper and time. See Urdu typing on Windows and install troubleshooting.
Common printing issues عام پرنٹنگ مسائل
- Text cut at edges: paper size in the printer does not match MPW. Reload the tray and reprint page one as a test.
- Wrong scale: turn off “fit to page” if the form looks too small or large.
- Blank pages: check USB/network printer, toner, and that the correct form is in focus.
- Old names on paper: you edited a printout but not the FIR record. Fix the case, save, reopen the form. Common mistakes.
- Slow jobs: large maps or photos; print those forms separately.
Suggested order for a full missal print مکمل مسل پرنٹ کی تجویز کردہ ترتیب
This is an example workflow, not a court order. Typical order: index (after everything else exists), FIR-related sheets, zimni (androni then beroni if both are used), fard and maps, applications, chalan and chalan-2, receipts, then specialised papers (PFSA, warrant, PO). Print the index last so page numbers are true. High Court packing notes are in Other documents.
