This page is an investigation checklist. It is about how a file is built in the field and on the desk: FIR particulars that lag the register, diary dates that go missing, recoveries done without independent witnesses, Call Detail Records handled without legal cover, subjects mixed in one spreadsheet, and exhibits that leave the store without a usable seal. It is not about Missal Police Writing (MPW) templates, keyword drift, A4 versus Legal, or Nastaleeq boxes. Those software and print issues live on a different page: common missal writing mistakes. Read both. They complement each other. For how a missal is structured, see police missal writing in Pakistan.

Disclosure: HR Solutions develops Missal Police Writing (MPW) and CDR Analyzer. This article is practical investigation-process guidance. It is not legal advice, not a quotation of any code, and not a finding about any real case. Examples are labelled as examples.
Two checklists, two jobs دو چیک لسٹ، دو کام
MPW will copy whatever FIR number and names you saved. If those values are wrong, every printed zimni is wrong — that is the writing page. This page starts one step earlier: the investigation itself. A perfectly printed chalan cannot repair a recovery that nobody saw, or a CDR imported from a file you were not authorised to hold. Software is downstream of those facts.
Use MPW for the paper. Use CDR Analyzer for operator tables after lawful access. Do not ask either product to invent a witness or a seal. Product split: MPW vs CDR Analyzer.
Delayed FIR particulars FIR تفصیلات میں تاخیر
The register and the investigation must agree on the identity of the case: number, date, police station, occurrence time as recorded, and the names that will travel through the file. When those particulars are entered late, or entered from memory after several other cases, zimni and applications start to describe a slightly different event than the FIR. Defence readers look for that drift.
Enter the case in MPW from the register, not from a scrap of paper you will lose. Guide: how to fill FIR data. If the occurrence time later needs a correction because a witness was more precise, record the correction in the investigation papers with a date. Do not silently change only the software record and reprint old pages as if they had always said the new time.
Example (not a real case): an FIR is registered at night. The next afternoon the investigation officer types a neighbouring FIR number into MPW because both files were on the desk. Chalans print. A week later the chalan number and the diary number do not match. That is delayed and sloppy particulars, not a printer fault. Fix the source record, then reprint. Print settings are on how to print MPW forms and on the missal-mistakes page — different checklist.
Missing diary dates ڈائری تاریخوں کا نہ ہونا
Investigation work is a sequence. Requests, visits, recoveries, and CDR examinations happen on days. If the diary (or the running note your standing order uses) skips dates, the file looks as if nothing happened, or as if several things happened at once. Missing dates also make chain of custody harder for digital files: you cannot say when the operator workbook arrived if no line exists.
Write the date you actually did the work. Do not back-fill a week of empty lines in one sitting unless your supervisor’s process for delayed entries says how to mark them. CDR exports should carry the generation date as well; see digital evidence.
Example (not a real case): a CDR request is sent on Monday, the file arrives on Thursday, analysis happens on Saturday. The diary only says “CDR obtained” with no dates. A later reader cannot tell whether analysis preceded the lawful return. Software timestamps on a PDF help, but they do not replace the diary line.
Recovery without witnesses گواہوں کے بغیر برآمدگی
Recoveries and seizures are field acts. Independent witnesses, or the witness practice your unit is required to follow, are not a typing feature in MPW. A fard printed with perfect Nastaleeq still describes an event. If that event had no one present who can later speak to it, the paper is describing a gap.
Plan the recovery so the memo, the seals, and the names match what happened in the room or on the roadside. Photographs, if your orders use them, should be of the actual exhibit and seal, not of a reconstructed table in the office an hour later — unless you clearly label a reconstruction as such. This site does not quote procedure-code sections. Follow the orders that bind your district.
Example (not a real case): a phone is taken from a motorcycle bag. Two shopkeepers watched. Their names never enter the memo. The MPW fard is printed later with only police signatures. That is an investigation mistake. Installing a font will not fix it.
CDR without legal cover قانونی ڈھانچے کے بغیر CDR
Opening a Call Detail Record you are not authorised to hold is not “being efficient.” It is a custody and legality problem. CDR Analyzer will import whatever Excel you point at. It does not check your request papers. Before import: confirm the request, the return, the number, and the FIR. Full workflow: CDR analysis for police investigations and the short guide how to use CDR Analyzer.
Do not borrow a CDR from another officer’s case “just to see the format.” Do not keep family members’ operator files on the same PC folder as live FIRs. Do not send live subscriber rows to a public WhatsApp group to ask how MFC works. Ask HR Solutions with a dummy sheet if you need product help.
Example (not a real case): an officer still waiting for Jazz returns imports last month’s Ufone file from a different FIR to “practise.” The MFC table is accidentally printed with today’s FIR header from MPW. Two subjects have been mixed on paper. That printout is worse than no annex.
Mixing subjects موضوعات کا ملنا
One spreadsheet, one subject, unless you are running a labelled multi-CDR comparison of files you are authorised to hold. Mixing happens when files are named “cdr.xlsx”, when two accused share a USB, or when a second import is stacked onto the wrong dataset. Name folders with FIR and subject. In CDR Analyzer, keep datasets separate until you deliberately compare them.
Mixing also happens in the missal when accused A’s IMEI is typed into accused B’s zimni. That is why FIR data in MPW must stay consistent — but the root error is often the investigation officer holding two phones’ papers in one pile. Separate the piles before you type.
Poor exhibit seals نقصان زدہ exhibit مہریں
Phones, SIM trays, USB sticks that carried operator files, and other digital media are exhibits. A seal that is missing, open, reused from another case, or photographed so poorly that the identifier cannot be read, is a later question you will not want. Label the exhibit with the FIR and a unique mark. Record who sealed it and when. If the seal must be opened for forensic extraction, record that opening.
Paper printouts of MFC are annexes; the handset is an exhibit. Do not staple a CDR PDF to a phone bag and call the bag sealed. Store media the way your malkhana / store process already requires. Software cannot freeze a bag shut.
Example (not a real case): three phones from one raid sit in one envelope with one tape. Months later nobody can say which IMEI was in which device. The CDR Analyzer IMEI screen is then an orphan. Seal and label at the time of seizure.
Investigation checklist تفتیش چیک لسٹ
- FIR number, date, station, and party names match the register before you generate a stack of forms.
- Diary (or equivalent) has dated lines for requests, visits, recoveries, and digital examinations.
- Recoveries have the witnesses and memos your orders require — print the fard after the fact, not instead of it.
- Any CDR is covered by the request and return that belong to this file; originals are preserved.
- Each subject’s operator file and CDR Analyzer dataset are named and separate until comparison is intentional.
- Exhibits (including phones and media) have seals and identifiers a stranger could still read next month.
- Zimni language does not claim GPS-level location or guilt from a cell identifier. Limits: digital evidence.
- Windows software came from the Download page, not a chat.exe. Safety notes.
